On Thursday night, the Huntsville City Council approved the annexation of 686 acres of the Stevens Property, which is right off Highway 72 near Gurley.

The city says the plan is to solely bring industrial and commercial businesses to that area.

Huntsville man jailed in motorcycle hit-and-run

Police say the driver of the motorcycle was taken to Huntsville Trauma Services in serious condition. ... Investigators say evidence confirmed that Vladimir Andres Morales, 52, of Huntsville, was the driver of the vehicle involved. He was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident involving death or injury, first-degree assault, and non-family vehicle-driving under the influence.

Bond for Morales is set at $17,500.

Huntsville bridge’s condition criticized after untimely collapse

The trestle bridge across Aldridge Creek in South Huntsville collapsed on Tuesday morning under the train it was holding, sending two rail cars into the creek below.

One former employee of the Huntsville-Madison County Railroad Authority (HMCRA) says the Aldridge Creek bridge has been slowly deteriorating for years, with little maintenance or construction.
