Governor gives update on moving Alabama forward

Ivey said the state is experiencing “great momentum, from here in Huntsville all the way down to the Gulf of America, and all of you play a big part in our success.” The governor reported that since she took office, Alabama has seen investments totaling $55 billion, creating 93,000 jobs.

“For Alabama to continue to be a top state for doing business and to ensure our workforce is ready to fill these high-paying jobs coming to Huntsville, we need to refocus on our efforts to increase our low labor force participation rate,” she said. “That’s where our new Department of Workforce comes into play.”

Workforce development is only possible when the public and private sectors work together ...

President Trump’s proposed NASA cuts target Huntsville-designed rocket

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - President Donald Trump’s 2026 proposed budget cuts aim to end some NASA programs, including one in the Rocket City. ... The Trump administration plans to phase out the SLS rocket and the Orion Crew Capsule after two more Artemis flights.

It says the SLS rocket, which was designed and developed by Huntsville’s Marshall Space Flight Center, is grossly expensive at over $4 billion a flight and is 140% over budget.

They believe cheaper systems can support more ambitious, less delayed missions ...
